An Update from Superintendent Dr. Lohman (NEW)
Earlier this evening, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York State issued a temporary stay of Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Rademaker’s January 24, 2022 decision which invalidated the mask mandate.
As such, the NYS mask mandate is immediately back in effect, and all students, staff, and visitors will be required to continue to wear masks in schools across the State until the Appellate Division renders its determination in this matter which is scheduled for a hearing this Friday.
I know that this has been a long haul for all of us and that the constant changes have not made it any easier. The back and forth in this current situation coupled with continued short notice has been frustrating and confusing for us as a school district, a community, and also for our students. While I know there are strong opinions on all sides of this matter it is more important than ever that we continue to demonstrate who we are as a community along with our ability to remain respectful and supportive of one another despite our differences and the challenges we continue to face together.
As always, we will continue to keep our school community informed as things continue to evolve and as soon as we receive any further information.
